"In creating Guthrie CiderWorks, we were inspired by dry, European-style ciders," explained co-owner Sara Devoto. "There are a lot of mass market ciders out there that are very sweet and we think they don't do justice to the depth and complexity of cider. At Guthrie, we only make dry ciders."
Guthrie currently offers an array of small-batch ciders to drink onsite and for takeaway, including specialty batches like Cherry Zinga (cherry with cardamom) and Rubus Citrus (raspberry with tart orange), as well as more widely released varieties like Truly Dry and the semi-dry Maloose. New flavors will be added in the future. As far as food, the tasting room relies on San Diego's food trucks and carts, including Big Boyz Tacos and Coal and Barrel BBQ.
Guthrie Ciderworks is currently open to the public on Thursdays from 3:30-8pm, Fridays from 3:30-9pm and Saturdays from 12-9pm but will be adding more days based on the demand. Guthrie Ciderworks also has their ciders in various stores, markets and restaurants in San Diego, including Barons Market, Bristol Farms, Herb & Eatery, Keg N Bottle, Lazy Acres, and many more.
Guthrie Ciderworks is located at 6496 Marindustry Dr, Suite D, in Miramar. For more information, visit guthriecider.com.
