Young Hickory To Open East Village Location Next Week

June 24, 2018

Young Hickory, the craft beer and coffee shop that first opened in North Park in 2013, is almost ready to unveil its second location, anticipated to open next week in the new IDEA1 building in San Diego's East Village.

"We're excited about the opportunity to open up a second location in such a unique mixed-use building in an emerging submarket," said Young Hickory owner Clay Summers. "The original concept of Young Hickory was based on my own experience - as a graphic designer I spent a lot of time in cafés which gave me an understanding of the customer’s needs of a successful coffee shop."

Young Hickory will occupy 1,577 square feet and will be located on the corner of 13th Street and F Street. The café will be similar to the North Park location offering the same menu items like local coffee, craft beer cans, and casual breakfast and lunch options. Laurie C. Fisher, a local architect who collaborated on the first space, has also assisted with the design of the East Village location. The space features roll-up doors and will have dedicated area in the HUB - the common courtyard that connects the commercial and residential ecosystems of the IDEA1 building, which also houses 295 apartments.

Young Hickory will be located on the ground floor next to the 3,200 square-foot incoming modern taco shop and casual restaurant Lola 55. Young Hickory will offer more than 30 craft beers sold only in cans, acai bowls, toasts, Panini sandwiches, salads and Bird Rock Coffee Roasters coffee.

Young Hickory is expected to open as early as Wednesday, June 25 at 810 13th Street in San Diego's East Village and will be open from 6am to 10pm with the full menu offered throughout the day. For more information, visit younghickory.com.
