American Idol Open Auditions Kick Off West Coast Tour In San Diego On August 25

August 6, 2018

Do you think you have the vocal skills to be the next American Idol?!? Start warming up your pipes, as auditions for Fox's hit singing competition kicks off its West Coast "Bus Tour" at Tuna Harbor Park in downtown San Diego this summer.

American Idol will host open auditions to be a contestant on its next season on Saturday, August 25, at downtown's Waterfront Park, from 9am to approximately 5pm. This audition is not like the one that took place on the USS Midway back in 2011 where all the Idol judges were present. Rather than hosting only a handful of major audition like in season's past, this year the singing competition will travel the country holding at least 24 smaller auditions where potential contestants will perform in front of producers rather than the actual judges for this season, who will not be in attendance.

As in the original Fox 'Idol,' contestants for the reboot have to be between the ages of 15 and 28 and could not have advanced into the Top 10 on a previous season. The producers of American Idol can't wait to hear what you've got this summer. You can audition both in-person and online. Those interested in auditioning in person for American Idol must bring a photo identification, an additional document to verify proof of age, and a completed personal release form. Anyone under 18 years of age must provide additional parental consent.

Register for the open call audition so that you can get the most up-to-date information. For more information, visit americanidol.com/auditions
