One of America's premier pizzaiolos is heading to San Diego for one night only! Chris Bianco, owner and chef at Phoenix, AZ's renown Pizzeria Bianco, will be cooking up his award-winning pizzas on August 25 at North Park's Tribute Pizza.
Chris Bianco founded Pizzeria Bianco inside the back corner of a neighborhood grocery store in 1988, and at that time, he was unaware that he would eventually be a driving force in the slow food movement and a revolutionary of artisanal pizza in American. Bianco went on to open four restaurants and won the James Beard Award for Best Chef Southwest in 2003. He now owns four restaurants and his namesake Pizzeria Bianco has been touted by many media outlets and publications - including Bon Appétit,Vogue,Rachael Ray, and Andrew Zimmern - as one of the best pizzerias in the country.
Bianco will be heading to San Diego later this month and joining forces with his former mentee Matthew Lyons, the chef and owner of Tribute Pizza, which opened in the former North Park Post Office in 2016. The duo will prepare a menu of signature pizzas from both Pizzeria Bianco and Tribute, as well as a selection from Bianco's cookbook "Bianco: Pizza, Pasta and Other Food I Like" - using ingredients obtained from local sources like San Diego's Specialty Produce and the Little Italy Mercato Saturday Farmers Market. There will also be several other 'tribute' dishes on the menu during the evening, and Chris will be mingling with guests and signing cookbooks.
Get a taste of Bianco's creations during dinner service on Saturday, August 25, from 5-10pm. Tribute Pizza is located at 3077 North Park Way in North Park. For more information, visit tributepizza.com.
