Duck Foot Brewing Company Debuts East Village San Diego Brewery Restaurant This Week

August 16, 2018

Duck Foot Brewing Company, the gluten-reduced craft beer company that launched in San Diego's Miramar neighborhood in 2015, will open its previously announced East Village brewery restaurant on Friday, August 17, with a grand opening taking place later this month.

Duck Foot Brewing Taproom & Kitchen has installed in the 1,500 square foot East Village space formerly occupied by The Parlour. Like Duck Foot’s Miramar brewery, the East Village brewery restaurant is being designed by Jessica Kovarsky of Studio Aya. The kitchen will be helmed by newly-appointed Executive Chef Stevan Novoa, a Culinary Art Institute of San Diego graduate that has previously spent time in the kitchens at Nobu San Diego and Draft Mission Beach. All the food options will be gluten-free and geared towards the moderately health-conscious and gluten-ambivalent.

"Funny thing is that Brett, Suzy and I are all New York transplants who found our souls again in San Diego, then launched a brewery in Mira Mesa in 2015," said former Wall Street hack turned head Duck Foot Brewing quack Matt DelVecchio. "So, we started missing the energy of New York City last year and secured a space in our local East Village."

Duck Foot East Village will offer a concise menu of snacks and small plates to pair with the bar's 16 taps devoted to the brewery's regular offerings and limited releases. Highlights from the food menu include the charcuterie board with a selection of cured meats and cheeses, furikake, honey granola, pickles, and mustard; the chicory Caesar salad with bitter greens, shaved parmesan, capers, anchovy dressing, and sous-vide egg; and the Miso black cod with seasonal vegetables.

"When we opened, we were the 100th brewery in San Diego (there are now 160) and, while we’re now in 500 retail locations across the county, many San Diego locals - gluten-free and not - still haven’t heard of us, especially downtown," said Duck Foot Brewing partner Brett Goldstock, who, no big deal, is a National Beer Judge, mead judge and has medaled, all Olympic-like, for many of the fine beers he’s brewed over the last two decades. "We love the local fervor for craft beer and we’re eager to join our downtown craft beer friends."

Duck Foot’s brewery and tasting room opened at 8920 Kenamar Drive in Miramar in June 2015 with core beers and rotating seasonal offerings and special releases throughout the year. Some of its year-round offerings include a Double White IPA, Blonde Ale, Coconut IPA, Pilsner and a Honey Ale. Seasonal offerings include an Irish Stout, Red Ale, Imperial Stout and Belgian Saison.

Duck Foot's downtown brewpub is located at 550 Park Boulevard, Suite 2104 in the East Village. For more information, visit duckfootbeer.com and check out the food menu below.
