Kilowatt Brewing To Open Oceanside Tasting Room

November 11, 2018

Kilowatt Brewing will soon move into the 2,500 square-foot space currently occupied by a Subway in the North County San Diego city of Oceanside for the opening of the craft brewery's third location.

Founded in San Diego's Kearny Mesa in 2014 by Steve Kozyk, Rachel Fischer, Adam Vance, and brewmaster Chris Calva, Kilowatt Brewing is a nano-brewery that produces small-batch styles different from many on the market in San Diego. Drawing on co-owner Steve Kozyk's years of experience designing and installing lighting for area bars and restaurants, the company is known for its wild and innovative lighting features in its brewery and tasting rooms, including custom programmable LED lighting that allows them to change the color and mood in real-time. Examples of Kilowatt beers include a Chocolate Macadamia Stout, Passion Fruit Green Tea Ale, Coconut Chai Porter, Guava 250 kWh IPA, and Bourbon Vanilla Oak Amber, to name a few.

Kilowatt's Oceanside tasting room will soon begin installing at 406 Mission Avenue in the space that currently houses a Subway sandwich chain location. Like the company's Ocean Beach tasting room, which opened in early 2017, the Oceanside outpost will feature creative lighting, interactive art by local artists, and plenty of games, including a life sized Lite Brite. Kilowatt's North County tasting room hopes to open by the 4th anniversary of the brewery's grand opening in March 2019.
