Millennial-Focused Moxy Hotel To Unveil In Downtown San Diego Later This Month
November 3, 2018
Later this month, Marriott International will bring its first California location of the company's experiential, millennial-minded Moxy Hotel to San Diego's historic Gaslamp District. The two-year-old boutique-hotel concept is aimed at budget-savvy travelers and will offer 128 tech-enabled rooms with a bold-yet-funky, contemporary design and modern amenities.
Developed by San Diego-based J Street Hospitality in partnership with Marriott International Hotels, Moxy Hotel will sit right outside the Gaslamp Quarter on the east side of Sixth Avenue between E and F streets, offering eight-stories with 128-rooms. At Moxy, guests will check in at the bar or from a mobile check-in station to receive their digital room key, as well as Bar Moxy’s signature welcome nitro-cocktail served from a lively tricycle.
The hotel will feature an open lobby that will serve as the main gathering space with multiple communal areas for lounging, plus large "writing walls", 56-inch televisions, a state-of-the-art video wall with helpful travel tools, shuffle board, 80s arcade games, Giant Jenga, Twister, and daily, weekly and monthly activations and events. Moxy’s signature, Instagram-worthy design will also include a custom painted mural on the hotel’s exterior by a local graffiti artist and the brand’s digital "guestbook" that showcases a stream of fellow guests around the world who tag #atthemoxy.
Guest rooms will have cushy beds, 42" TVs with high-quality sound systems, built in USB ports, and complimentary, speedy Wi-Fi. The hotel will offer 24/7 food and beverage offering with a wide selection of snacks, cocktails, craft beers, wines, and soft drinks, as well as a healthy continental breakfast for guests and an evening bar featuring wines by the glass and local brews. The hotel will be managed by Azul Hospitality, which will also oversee the incoming The Guild Hotel in San Diego's downtown Marina District, set to open next year.
Moxy Hotel is set to unveil by month's end at 831 Sixth Avenue in downtown San Diego. For more information, visit moxysandiego.com.

About SanDiegoVille
SanDiegoVille was created in 2010 to report about all the fun & delicious happenings taking place around America's Finest City and we quickly earned a reputation for being a news source for and by those that shun archaic journalistic practices in pursuit of reporting the real story. We are a different kind of news site with no desire to conform to antiquated ideas of how many believe journalism should be. We pound the pavement for our exclusive coverage instead of waiting for permission to break news from the fancy public relations firms that regularly spoon-feed mainstream media sources their story ideas, influencing journalists’ opinions with freebies and fanfare. SanDiegoVille reports fairly on the top entertainment happenings and small businesses doing it right, while not shying away from hard topics and questions you won’t read in local publications where editorial direction is ultimately steered by the sales department. We are a concerted threat to legacy media organizations, and proudly so.
