San Diego's Grab & Go Subs To Shutter 25 Year Old Little Italy Location

December 12, 2018

A Little Italy destination for sandwiches for 25 years, Grab & Go Subs has announced that it will be closing its first San Diego location.

"It’s with great sadness that we will be closing our very first Grab&Go Subs location in San Diego," said the company on a social media post. "After 25 great memorable years in Little Italy, development and condos will be replacing our little ole sandwich spot. We will be opening our new Mission Hills location so that all of our loyal customers can continue to grab the yummy sandwiches that we have been serving since 1973. Thank you little Italy for a great 25 years, and thank you to all of our loyal customers for your continued support."

Grab & Go Hot Sandwiches was founded in 1973 by native Sicilian Vincenzo “Mimmo” Gaglio. The company currently has 7 locations of Grab & Go around San Diego County, with an eighth location installing by year's end at the corner of Washington & Falcon Streets in Mission Hills. The brand also operates Mimmo's in Little Italy and Hungry Lu's in Ocean Beach. Earlier this year, a longtime Grab & Go Hot Sandwiches baker fell victim to a deadly hit-and-run in Chula Vista.
