A new concept from the team behind North Park's Working Class and Pacific Beach's Second Nature is opening later this year in the space that last housed Blackthorn Irish Pub & Grub in San Diego's Bay Park neighborhood.
From Paul Fatta (who runs Bayside Landing in Crown Point), Jeffrey Kiyama (who was a longtime manager at downtown's Barleymash), and Eddie Okino (who long operated Turquoise Cellars & Coffee), a new casual bar and restaurant is being installed within the space at 3010 Clairemont Drive previously occupied since 2014 by Blackthorn Irish Pub. In the last couple years, the group has teamed up for the opening of Second Nature in Pacific Beach, as well as Working Class in North Park.
Details are still being ironed out about the concept taking over the Bay Park space, but expect it to have a casual tavern menu with items devoted to those on a vegan and vegetarian diet. The neighborhood-focused bar and restaurant will have a full liquor license with cocktails, beer and wine and is anticipated to operate for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Expect the business to open at some point this summer.
