An Asian Fusion Restaurant With Rooftop Bar Is Coming To San Diego | SKA Bar & Restaurant To Open This Spring In Normal Heights

March 2, 2019

Opening in San Diego this spring is SKA Bar & Restaurant, a 7,000+ square-foot, bi-level Asian-fusion restaurant with a rooftop bar currently under construction in Normal Heights.

From Louie Chau, whose family operates Lotus Garden Chinese restaurant in City Heights, SKA Bar & Restaurant will anchor a new mixed-use building currently being constructed in San Diego's Normal Heights neighborhood that will also house 11 luxury apartments. The bar and restaurant will have a 4,500 square foot ground floor dining area with rollup garage door windows and a 40-foot central bar, as well as a 2,600 square-foot rooftop dining space and bar with expansive views.

"Ska is music originating in Jamaica and has great influence to music of today," explained owner Louie Chan. "We will have an array of old Ska music and beats of today playing at the bar. SKA is a music vibe but also stands for Simple Kitchen Adams. We are creating simple dishes and bar food that has a little Asian influence (Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese spices) to all of our dishes. The food concept will be more Asian/American. We will have traditional noodles to fried rice, and a twist on Asian hamburgers, steak and lobster, tacos and more."

SKA Bar will offer a menu of Asian-American fusion with an eclectic variety of dishes that will be transported from the base-floor kitchen to the rooftop via a dumbwaiter elevator. The restaurant will also serve brunch from Thursday-Sunday. From the bar, expect a menu of craft cocktails from lead bartender Elliott Mizuki, who previously worked for 6 years at nearby cocktail mainstay, Polite Provisions.

SKA Bar & Restaurant is anticipated to open at 3250 Adams Avenue in Normal Heights in mid-to-late May.
