Moving into the Kearny Mesa space last occupied by short-lived The Churreria Cafe is Chungchun Ssal Hot Dog, a Korean hot-dog-on-a-stick chain with more than 300 locations around the world.
From Alex Sung, who also operates San Diego's Onami and 356 Korean BBQ, Chungchun Ssal Hot Dog's Convoy Street branch will be the first United States location for the restaurant, which offers a menu based around rice flour batter-dipped hot dogs on a stick. The eatery will offer 8 varieties - including spicy sausage, cheddar wrapped dogs, and squid ink and mozzarella dogs - that will be battered and fried to order, then topped with an eclectic array of toppings and sauces.
Chungchun Ssal Hot Dog aims to open this April at 4619 Convoy Street in San Diego's Kearny Mesa. The concept hopes to expand to more locations around the country.
