Regional-Focused Wine & Beer Bar Opens In San Diego | Continental Bistro Unveils In Old Town

March 10, 2019

Now open in the space that last housed Shawn's On Congress adjacent to Old Town's Red Spade Theater is Continental Bistro - a mostly al fresco craft wine and beer bar.

"We saw a need for a place where local craft beer and regional wines could be found," explained Continental Bistro co-owner Jessica Duran. "Very often here in San Diego we find beer bars or wine bars, but you don't find places that specialize in both. We strive to locally source all items that we can including our selection of food items that can be paired with wine or beer. It's a place great for a date night, hanging out with friends, and a fantastic indoor/outdoor space for events.

Continental Bistro was founded by Jessica Duran and Frederick Remick, who both boast over a decade of hospitality industry experience. The bar and eatery has a warm rustic yet modern design with wood tones complimented by steel and green accents, as well as grass and weathered wood focal walls. The space has an expansive outdoor courtyard with various seating locations including a custom built 25-foot community bench. In the evening you will find beautiful warm market lights above, heat lamps (when cold), and lot's of space for groups. Continental Bistro will offer a concise menu of appetizers, flat bread pizza and salads, as well as 6 handles of local beers and a hand-curated selection of more than two dozen wines.

"Our biggest goal is to create an environment where locals and tourists can enjoy great wine, beer, and food in a friendly atmosphere," continued Duran. "We are not a corporate sterile space, but rather a locally crafted experience that is truly unique. Here you will find quality, hospitality, sophistication, charm, and a lot of fun."

Continental Bistro is located at 2539 Congress Street, Suite A, in San Diego's Old Town.
