Harry's Coffee Shop Owner Purchasing The Venetian In Point Loma

July 17, 2019

After more than 50 years under the ownership of the same local family, Point Loma's The Venetian is in the process of being purchased by the team behind Harry's Coffee Shop in La Jolla.

Opened in 1965 by Vince & Carmella Giacalone and operated in recent years by sons Frank & Joey, The Venetian has been a destination in San Diego's Point Loma community for classic red sauce Italian American delicacies. The restaurant was originally located at 2910 Canon Street before moving in 1973 to its current location at 3663 Voltaire Street. In 2013, the brothers gutted the restaurant and gave it a full interior makeover. The restaurant is currently in the process of being purchased by group that includes John Rudolph, who owns Harry’s Coffee Shop in La Jolla, Cass Street Bar & Grill in Pacific Beach, and Mike's Taco Club in Ocean Beach.

"Our plan and intention is to continue the traditions of excellence, hospitality, community engagement, and eat as much pizza and pasta as possible," commented The Venetian's new co-owner John Rudolph.

The new owners of The Venetian intend to make only minor changes to improve the restaurant's aestetic appeal. For more information, visit venetian1965.com.
