Wet Stone Wine Bar Owner To Shutter Sister Restaurant In Mission Hills

July 26, 2019

Two years ago, the owner of Wet Stone Wine Bar & Cafe took over the blue building that previously housed Mission Hills Coffee Company and opened Fools and Kings - an old-world-style, globally inspired restaurant, but the eatery will close after this weekend's service.

Chef and owner Christian Gomez, who has been operating Wet Stone Wine Bar & Cafe in San Diego's Bankers Hill neighborhood since 2008, attempted to develop a classy yet unpretentious neighborhood haunt in Mission Hills inspired by the Old World style of countries like Cuba, opening Fools and Kings in summer 2017. Gomez developed Fools & Kings to pay homage to the global culinary influences that had inspired the San Diego native during his world travels. The restaurant apparently did not receive the reception Gomez hoped for and it was announced today that the eatery would close after dinner service on Sunday, July 28. Wet Stone Wine Bar will remain in business.

There is no word yet on who will be replacing Fools and Kings within the Mission Hills space. For more information, visit foolsandkings.com and check out the restaurant's closure announcement below.
