Old World European Style Beer Hall To Open In San Diego's South County | Tavern At The Vogue Is Coming To Chula Vista This Summer

July 26, 2019

Opening next month in the downtown Chula Vista space that last housed Mea Kwan Thai Cuisine is Tavern at the Vogue, an old world-style beer hall and sausage house sited adjacent to the historic Vogue Theatre.

Founded by local developer Alan Cassell and Dr. Gonzalo "Q" Quintero - who is a National City councilman and operates La Bella Pizza Garden in Chula Vista and Grind House Barrio Logan - Tavern at the Vogue is housed in a "Danish Provincial"-style standalone building that neighbors the shuttered Vogue Theatre, which was built in 1945 and is in the process of being revived by local design firm Tecture (minus Chef Steve Brown). Tavern at the Vogue will be a restaurant and beer hall featuring a dozen taps and an extensive bottle and can selection to compliment the menu of sausages, sandwiches, small bites and cheeses. The restaurant will also have a private rooftop dining deck, 22 ft shuffle board table, classic arcade games, and a fridge stocked with par-cooked sausages for take-away.

Tavern at the Vogue is expected to open at 230 3rd Avenue in downtown Chula Vista as early as Sunday, August 4 for the Chula Vista Lemon Festival, with a tentative opening set for Wednesday. August 7. For more information, check out the opening menu below.
