Team Behind North Park's Working Class & Pacific Beach's Second Nature To Open New Bayhill Tavern In Bay Park

August 15, 2019

Opening next month in the space that last housed Blackthorn Irish Pub in Bay Park is Bayhill Tavern, a new neighborhood gastropub concept from the team behind North Park's Working Class and Pacific Beach's Second Nature.

From Paul Fatta (who runs Bayside Landing in Crown Point), Jeffrey Kiyama (who was a longtime manager at downtown's Barleymash), and Eddie Okino (who long operated Turquoise Cellars & Coffee), Bayhill Tavern is a revival of sorts for the restaurant space in Clairemont Mesa, as it housed a concept of the same name before being converted to Blackthorn in 2014. In the last few years, the group of restaurateurs has teamed up for the opening of other San Diego neighborhood haunts including Second Nature in Pacific Beach and Working Class in North Park.

Bayhill Tavern is expected to open in early September with a casual tavern menu most similar to Bayside Landing, featuring burgers, sandwiches, pizza, wings, starters, and entrees, as well as a selection of vegetarian and vegan friendly items. There eatery will also host a boozy weekend brunch and nightly specials. The neighborhood-focused bar and restaurant will also have a full liquor license with cocktails, a lenghty selection of draft beer and wine by the glass. The eatery will also have a large outdoor patio on the rear of the building, which is expected to unveil by year's end.

Bayhill Tavern is located at 3010 Clairemont Drive in San Diego's Bayhill community. The restaurant is currently hiring staff. Those interested in applying should contact [email protected]. For more information, visit bayhilltavernsd.com.
