Snake Oil Cocktail Company To Open Medicine Cabinet Bottle Shop & Julep Event Center At Former 57 Degrees

August 16, 2019

San Diego-based beverage catering and mixology experts Snake Oil Cocktail Company has taken over the 16,500 square-foot space that last housed 57 Degrees & Fishmongers in Middletown and will launch Julep event center & cafe and Medicine Cabinet Bottle Shop.

Founded in 2010, Snake Oil Cocktail Company is one of Southern California’s most sought after beverage catering companies and cocktail consulting firms. Snake Oil specializes in creating mixology menus and beverage experiences for select bars, special events and restaurants nationwide. Clients have included the The San Diego Symphony, The Hard Rock Hotel, San Diego Polo, New York Yankees, The Sundance Film Festival, Aston Martin, Rolls Royce, Tiffany & Co., National Geographic, Google, and The TED Conference. Earlier this year, Snake Oil became the exclusive food and beverage management partner for The Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center, downtown La Jolla's new progressive music hall and private event space.

Next on Snake Oil's agenda is the company's first full-service brick-and-mortar endeavor. Opening in the former 57 Degrees building off the I-5 minutes from downtown San Diego is Julep, a 12,000 square-foot multifunctional cafe and event center that will feature a full service restaurant, an event banquet hall and onsite cafe. The space is being elegantly redesigned to offer vine draped high ceilings, roll-up doors leading to open-air patios, two full kitchens, AV equipped meeting rooms, and a parking lot. In addition to housing a bar & eatery open to the public, Julep will be available as a private venue for weddings and other community gatherings. Also installing within the space is Medicine Cabinet Bottle Shop, a retail liquor store featuring a curated selection of fine spirits and mixology tools, as well as champagne, local craft beers, and items from some of San Diego’s best artisans and confectionaires.

Julep is currently open for bookings and is expected to be ready by this fall. Medicine Cabinet will likely open soon after. Both concepts will be located at 1735 Hancock Street in San Diego's Middletown area. For more information, visit
