San Diego's 2Kids Brewing Announces Impending Closure

August 17, 2019

Husband-and-wife backed 2Kids Brewing Company has announced it will close after its 6th anniversary next month.

"We wanted to let you all know that 2kids will be wrapping up operations and closing our doors at the end of September," read a post to 2Kids Brewing's Facebook Page. "Negotiations with our landlord to renew our lease after a 6 year tenancy have ended without a successful agreement. While we're sad that we won't be able to keep serving you all really cool beers, we are deeply honored to have been welcomed into this truly exceptional community."

After a successful Kickstarter campaign, 2Kids Brewing was launched in September 2013 on the outskirts of San Diego's Miramar in what is now a craft beverage hub dubbed Miralani Makers District. Founded by husband-and-wife team Sam and Rob Dufau, the duo went from homebrewing to a full-scale endeavor and created a modest beer lineup. After last year's closure of neighboring Intergalactic Brewing, 2Kids resurrected the craft beer brand and began serving Intergalactic recipes.

Hello Friends, Family, Neighbors, Customers and Colleagues, We wanted to let you all know that 2kids will be wrapping up operations and closing our doors at the end of September. Negotiations with our landlord to renew our lease after a 6 year tenancy have ended without a successful agreement. While we're sad that we won't be able to keep serving you all really cool beers, we are deeply honored to have been welcomed into this truly exceptional community. We want to thank all of our customers who have supported us and allowed us to live out our dream. Many of you have been with us, literally, since day one, and we know that we'll continue to see you in breweries all over this amazing town of ours. When we started out, we never imagined that 2kids would ever be a full-time job, let alone a career for both of us. We're extremely proud of the brewery we've cobbled together and of the beers that we make; 2kids beer has constantly improved since the day we opened, and that was always our biggest goal. We also want to thank the amazing people who stepped up to support our vision by lending their efforts in the brewery. Zana, Jake, Alan, Dave, John, and Meagan, 2kids wouldn't have been nearly as cool or as fun without you. We'd like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our incredible colleagues including our friends at Intergalactic Brewing Company, Burning Beard Brewing, Societe Brewing Company, Nickel Beer Company, and our incredible neighbors in the Miralani Makers' District. This goes double for Alex Van Horne and Alexzander Rabe, who have graciously and continuously shared their knowledge, expertise, support, and most importantly, their friendship. 2kids would literally not exist without you. Business will continue as normal until our 6th Anniversary Bash, taking place September 27 and 28th, which will be our last two days of business. Come out and party with us, celebrate 2kids, and help us drink all of this fucking beer. Cheers, Rob & Sam The 2kids
