North Park Hawaiian Spot Chris' Ono Grinds To Open Location Inside San Diego's Liberty Public Market

August 5, 2019

North Park's popular destination for Hawaiian comfort food, Chris' Ono Grinds Island Grill will soon launch a second area outpost inside Liberty Public Market.

Chris Wriston started Chis' Ono Grinds as a farmers market vendor before launching his first brick-and-mortar eatery in San Diego's Grantville area in 2010. In 2014, Wriston opened a second location in North Park and the following year shuttered his original restaurant. Ono Grinds serves a menu of Hawaiian recipes learned from Wriston's mother during his upbringing in in Oahu and Kauai, including poke bowls, musubi, Waimea wings, BBQ bowls, and plate lunch combinations platters.

The new Chris' Ono Grinds location will move into part of the space currently occupied by Crafted Baked Goods, which is downsizing to a smaller unit. Ono Grinds Liberty Station will serve a more condensed menu than found in North Park and is anticipated to open later this month.
