An Expanding Crafts & Cocktails Bar Concept Is Coming To San Diego | Upstairs Circus To Open North Park Location

August 1, 2019

Do-it-yourself crafts and cocktails will converge when expanding Denver-based, Parisian circus-themed bar concept Upstairs Circus opens its first California location in San Diego's North Park later this year.

With a name meant to represent the innate chaos occurring within the human brain, Upstairs Circus was founded by Kelly & Matt Johannsen in Denver, CO in 2013 and the DIY crafts and cocktail bar concept now has 4 locations, with two in Denver and others in Austin, TX and Minneapolis, MN. Upstairs Circus offers "project socials," where patrons schedule a reservation then are able to choose a craft project from a menu of approximately 30 varying creations while enjoying drinks & bites as they create. Offered crafts range from jewelry to a wooden beer carrier to custom art, leather-wrapped flasks, cutting boards, and much more. Project costs range from $36 to $39 per person, although prices vary by time and type.

Upstairs Circus will soon open its first West Coast outpost in San Diego's North Park community. The San Diego branch will offer a full bar featuring area beers, wine, and circus-themed cocktails & mocktails. The San Diego location will also serve a menu of small bites.

Upstairs Circus will open by year's end at 4130 30th Street, Suite 20, in San Diego's North Park. For more information, visit upstairscircus.com and check out the menus below.
