Cohn Restaurant Group Unveils Pacific Social In San Diego's Carmel Valley

November 11, 2019

San Diego's prolific Cohn Restaurant Group, which operates 28 restaurants of its own and has also been tasked with overseeing certain The Patio Group properties while its founder is being investigated, has opened the 5,100 square-foot Pacific Social at The Village at Pacific Highlands Ranch in Carmel Valley.

Replacing Westroot Tavern, which Cohn Restaurant Group took over this past June, Pacific Social restaurant and bar offers a new aesthetic from Los Angeles-based designer Lauren Borisoff, who slowly transformed the 200 seat bar and restaurant to transform it into a "social hub" featuring a $100k terrace arcade, a dog-friendly patio, and colorful walls and seating options. Pacific Social offers an American comfort food menu from going Executive Chefs Doug Dellaccio and Daniel Wolinsky, who both previously worked locally for Tracy Borkum’s Urban Kitchen Group (Cucina Urbana, Cucina Sorella, Cucina Enoteca). Expect a variety of shareable plates like crispy carnitas fries, Bo-Beau's famous Brussels sprouts, and cornmeal crusted calamari, as well as an array of salads, burgers, and full entrees like chicken pot pie and braised pork shank. There is also the addition of 6-inch shareable, fresh baked pies. From the bar, there will be 30 beers by taps, wines by the glass, and a variety of cocktails, freezes, and spritzes.

Over the past 39 years, David and Lesley Cohn and their family have brought dining to a new level as the premier hospitality collective in San Diego. Beginning with one small diner in 1981, Cohn Restaurant Group now owns and operates 28 restaurants with locations in San Diego, Long Beach and Maui. Venues include 333 Pacific, Blue Point Coastal Cuisine, BO-beau kitchen + bar (Ocean Beach), BO-beau kitchen + caché (Hillcrest), BO-beau kitchen + garden (La Mesa), BO-beau kitchen + roof tap (Long Beach), Coaster Saloon, Coasterra, Coin Haus, Corvette Diner, Draft Republic (La Jolla + Carlsbad), Del’s Hideout, Gaslamp Strip Club, Indigo Grill, Island Prime, C Level Lounge, SEA180 Coastal Tavern, Tacos Libertad, Tea Pavilion, The Prado at Balboa Park, Vin de Syrah, Vintana wine + dine, ZIGZAG Pizza Pie, The Melting Pot Gaslamp, Castaway Café and The Plantation House. This past September, the Cohn Group was appointed by the receiver for Gina Champion-Cain's American National Investments to oversee the operations at The Patio on Lamont, Surf Rider restaurants in La Mesa and Ocean Beach and Saska’s in Mission Beach after The Patio Group's founder was accused of an egregious $300 million fraud.

Pacific Social is now open at 6025 Village Way within The Village at Pacific Highlands Ranch in the Carmel Valley area of Del Mar. For more information, visit pacsocialsd.com and check out the photos below.
