The family behind Kearny Mesa's popular Phuong Trang Vietnamese restaurant is opening an offshoot concept called PT Eatery in San Diego's Clairemont Mesa.
Phuong Trang Restaurant started out as a monthly pop up in Kayla Tu's family kitchen, serving traditional Vietnamese family-style dinners for family and friends. Known as com thang, which translates to month of meals, they offered three courses that changed daily. The concept became so popular that the family opened a small restaurant in Linda Vista in 1988. In 1992, the current location was opened on Convoy Street in San Diego's Kearny Mesa, offering an extensive menu of nearly 250 Vietnamese dishes, including pho and the restaurant's popular garlic butter wings.
Phuong Trang will soon open a new restaurant in the space that last housed Pho Cali within Independence Square Shopping Center in Clairemont. PT Eatery will soft open on November 18 offering a menu with some of Phuong Trang’s best sellers as well as new items like the Pho French Dip, Short Rib Pho, and Garlic Baby Back Ribs. There will also be a selection of beer and soft drinks.
