December 9, 2019

Opening in early 2020, San Diego Mission Bay Resort will be the city’s newest luxury resort and spa, taking over the former Hilton bayfront property after completing a $21 million renovation.

Formerly known as the Hilton San Diego Resort & Spa, the new San Diego Mission Bay Resort will be a 357-room year-round destination sited on the picturesque waterfront of Mission Bay Park. The resort’s grand opening in January 2020 will debut the comprehensive $21 million transformation of its guestrooms, the resort’s expansive conference center, and the executive board rooms. Guests will enjoy upgraded and enhanced technology, an expanded amenity base, all-new custom furniture, and new guest bathrooms with tubs and custom tiled showers throughout the resort. In addition, visitors will notice the custom, original artwork displayed throughout the conference center.

"The newly unveiled San Diego Mission Bay Resort will appeal to couples, families, leisure and business travelers alike by offering effortless elegance with activities and comforts of the barefoot chic, vibrant San Diego lifestyle,” said Scott Colee, Noble House’s chief marketing officer. “We are especially excited to announce the launch of new curated programming that will engage every guest and visitor and capture the true essence of everything this luxury coastal playground has to offer.”

With an eye pointed toward the future, San Diego Mission Bay Resort owner Pebblebrook Hotel Trust is requesting approval from the City of San Diego to invest an additional $10.5 million into the lobby and onsite dining venues. The resort is operated by Noble House Hotels & Resorts, which also oversees San Diego's Kona Kai Resort & Spa on Shelter Island and L'Auberge Del Mar.

San Diego Mission Bay Resort will also offer a 4,000-square-foot outdoor pool area, five tennis courts, a spa and fitness center and a gift shop, as well as several distinct dining options. Acqua California Bistro offers an array of new American cuisine from a space overlooking Mission Bay, while the Olive Lounge presents an extensive bar and martini menu and it's own offerings of shareable American cuisine. Fresco’s offers tasty snacks and cocktails while relaxing poolside and Aroma is there for guests' early morning coffee fix with fresh pastries and grab and go sandwiches. Additionally, the Mediterranean-style hotel provides over 16,000-square-feet of interior meeting and function space and 9,600-square-feet of outdoor meeting space.
