Orange County's Tabu Shabu Japanese Hot Pot To Open Carlsbad Restaurant

January 1, 2020

In addition to a branch opening in San Diego's North Park community in the coming weeks, Orange County-based Tabu Shabu Japanese hot pot restaurant is bringing an outpost to the North County neighborhood of Carlsbad.

Moving into The Square at Bressi Ranch in Carlsbad is Tabu Shabu, an authentic Japanese shabu-shabu restaurant founded in 2012 by restaurateur Jeff Chon that currently has two locations in Orange County and another set to open soon in the former Paesano Fine Italian Food space in North Park. Translating to "swish-swish" in Japanese, shabu-shabu is a preparation of food where diners cook a variety of meats, seafood and vegetables in steaming hot broth then eat it with an array of sauces. Tabu Shabu offers four broth bases, carefully selected meats and seafood from all over the U.S. and world, locally sourced produce, and homemade sauces with freshly ground sesame seeds. The restaurant will also serve a concise list of Japanese starters, sides and desserts, as well as a menu of beer, wine, and sake.

Tabu Shabu is expected to open at 2674 Gateway Road, Suite 190, within The Square at Bressi Ranch in Carlsbad as early as spring 2020. For more information, visit tabushabu.com and check out the menu below.
