San Diego's Supannee House of Thai Goes Takeout Only Due To CoronaVirus

March 14, 2020

Due to fears caused by the CoronaVirus pandemic, San Diego's farm-to-table Supannee House of Thai in Point Loma has announced it will no longer be accepting dine-in patrons for the foreseeable future and limiting its operations exclusively to take out and delivery.

"We have trained and enforced our kitchen staffs and takeout staff for the highest standard of hygiene and sanitation of our foods and cooking and serving area," explained owner Supannee House. "Here is the reason why we do takeout only while most of the restaurants in San Diego remain open. In order to help prevent the spread of Covid-19 in San Diego and protect the health of our customers and our staff, we have decided to offer only to-go and delivery options."

Supannee House of Thai was opened in 2011 within a quaint shopping plaza adjacent to Point Loma's Shelter Island. Owner Supannee House (yes, that is her real name) grew up in Bangkok, Thailand with nine brothers and sisters and met her husband Alec House while working as a server at a local Thai restaurant. After launching a successful catering business with the help of her older sister, Chef Sangwan 'Wan' Chant, Supannee and Alec decided to open their own brick-and-mortar restaurant. With help from her family, including Chef Wan running the kitchen, Supannee House of Thai has become known as one of San Diego's top Thai restaurants and a true farm-to-table eatery. The restaurant sources most of its vegetables and herbs from two of its own expansive gardens that Supannee personally oversees - one in Point Loma and the other in El Cajon.

Supannee House of Thai is located at 2907 Shelter Island Drive, #110, in San Diego's Point Loma community. For more information and to place a takeout order, visit sdthai.com, call 619.795.8424 (THAI), or use one of the many restaurant delivery apps.
