Downtown San Diego Gastropub Releases Line Of Boozy Ice Cream Flavors

April 8, 2020

Downtown San Diego's Metl Bar & Grill is making the most out of the COVID-19 pandemic and has released a lineup of boozy ice cream flavors to compliment its extensive take-out food and beverage options.

Last year, San Diego restaurateur Djani Ivanov - who also operates Farmers Bottega in Mission Hills, Two Blu Ducks in North Park and previously owned Olivetto Cafe & Wine Bar and Aqua Blue - shuttered his The Hopping Pig eatery in San Diego's Gaslamp and partnered with his longtime general manager Jenna Elskamp on a new concept. For the new project, dubbed Métl in honor of the Aztec term for the agave plant, Elskamp teamed up with her husband Randy "Randyman" Elskamp, who was previously the face of North Park's popular Cantina Mayahuel for more than 8 years. Jenna & Randy revamped the bar menu to focus on tequila, mezcal, and whiskey, and even added a new stage for frequent live music nights.

In addition to a full food menu and beer and cocktail options available for take-out Métl now offers an array of homemade alcohol-infused ice cream varieties, available to go at the price of $4.50 for an 8 ounce Cointreau-branded container. Flavors include tequila pistachio, vodka mint chip, orange creamsicle, coconut margarita, and mezcal peanut butter cup.

Métl is now open for take-out and delivery daily from 1-7pm at 748 Fifth Avenue in San Diego's Gaslamp. For more information, visit metlsd.com, call 619.546.6424, and check out the menu below.
