Cor Di Gelato To Bring Italian Frozen Desserts With Locally Sourced Ingredients To San Diego's Mission Beach

May 5, 2020

Anticipated to open later this month, Cor di Gelato is an authentic Italian dessert shop eager to serve San Diego's Mission Beach artisanal frozen treats made with locally-sourced ingredients.

From Alexandra de Queiroz, Cor di Gelato was born from the owner's passion for the traditions deeply rooted in her. Chef Alexandra trained to be a Chef Gelatiere at the Gelato University in Bologna, Italy, which provided her the knowledge on the traditions and techniques of artisanal gelato in its most traditional form.

"As an Italian-Brazilian woman, I have the desire to share all that I learned while in Italy about the art of artisanal gelato," explained de Queiroz.

Cor di Gelato has taken over the 300 square-foot Mission Beach boardwalk-adjacent space that last housed Pacific Knots Ice Cream. An authentic Italian Pozzetti gelato storage system has been installed to ensure the natural quality of gelato. Eventually the quaint eatery hopes to have a balcony for clients to enjoy gelato while overlooking the ocean. Expect a menu of naturally-made gelato prepared from scratch in small batches, made daily using maximum amounts of local ingredients, with vegan flavors as well. Flavors include pistachio, salt caramel, tiramisu, and plant-based options like strawberry, mango, and dark chocolate.

Cor di Gelato aims to open at 736 Ventura Place in San Diego's Mission Beach by late May. For more information, visit cordigelato.com and check out the draft menu below.
