San Diego's Puesto To Unveil Full-Service Brewery & Restaurant Next Week At Former Gordon Biersch Space In Mission Valley

June 23, 2020

San Diego's growing modern Mexican chain of restaurants, Puesto will grand open its 10,000 square-foot brewery and restaurant next week in Mission Valley.

A little over a year ago we announced that after 20 years in business, Gordon Biersch Brewery & Restaurant in San Diego's Mission Valley would shutter and La Jolla-born modern Mexican chain Puesto was already in line to take over the lease at the standalone building. After an $8 million dollar redesign by San Diego's BASILE Studio (Morning Glory, Born & Raised), we received word that Puesto Artisan Mexican Kitchen & Bar will soft open as early as this Friday, June 26 with limited hours. A grand opening is scheduled for Friday, July 3.

With the first location founded in La Jolla in 2012, Puesto is family-owned and operated by brothers, Eric and Alan Adler, and their cousin Isi Lombrozo, all native San Diegans of Mexican descent. The restaurant now has six locations, including a 9,000-square-foot bar & eatery that opened in Silicon Valley in 2018 and a second San Diego location sited at The Headquarters at Seaport Village. The Mission Valley branch will be company's seventh restaurant.

Puesto Mexican Artisan Kitchen & Bar will offer a colorful interior with an open kitchen and a multi-level hydraulic bar. The onsite brewery will focus on Mexican lagers and will be helmed by lifelong brewer Doug Hasker, who oversaw Gordon Biersch’s brewing operations for over 20 years. Hasker will also be brewing a blonde, an amber, a dark brew and a specialty beer to pair with the taco of the month. There will also be a full bar with craft cocktails and an expanded Mexico City-inspired menu featuring wood-fired entrees, fresh caught local seafood, and tacos made on house made tortillas.

Puesto Artisan Mexican Kitchen & Bar is located at 5010 Mission Center Road in San Diego's Mission Valley. For more information, visit eatpuesto.com.
