San Diego's Empress Investments Takes Over Death By Tequila

July 8, 2020

San Diego-based Empress Capital Investments - which operates Wokou Ramen & Yakitori, Madero's and California Native - has purchased Death By Tequila in Encinitas and will reopen the eatery this Friday, July 10.

Empress Capital Investments was founded by James Langley in 2017 with the opening of the first Wokou Ramen & Yakitori in San Diego's Carmel Valley. The group also operates California Native within Del Mar Highlands Town Center, Madero's at The Village at Pacific Highlands Ranch in Carmel Valley and a second Wokou location in the Crown Point area of Pacific Beach. Empress recently took over management of Encinitas' Baja-inspired Death By Tequila, partnering with husband-and-wife founders Chad & Jessica Mestler.

Death By Tequila will reopen on July 10 for take-out, delivery and patio dining with a menu of Mexican dishes made with local ingredients. Empress will also convert its Madero's location in Carmel Valley into a second iteration of Death By Tequila and grand open it with an outdoor concert on July 17.

Death By Tequila is located at 569 S Coast Hwy 101 in Encinitas. For more information, visit deathbytequila.com.
