San Diego's Waypoint Public Set To Close For Good In North Park

July 27, 2020

North Park’s seven year old Waypoint Public is on the market with plans to permanently close in the near future.

John Pani opened craft beer-focused Waypoint Public in 2013 within the 5,000 square-foot North Park corner unit that long housed controversial The Linkery. Pani also owns Hotel Vyvant in Little Italy and Park & Rec in University Heights. Waypoint Public also opened a location within Del Sur Town Center in San Diego's 4S Ranch area, which operated for about a year before it shuttered in spring 2018

Although Waypoint continues to operate for take-out during limited hours, Pani recently listed the gastropub for sale at the asking price of $350,000. Ownership is choosing to get out of the North Park market due to continued uncertainty surrounding the restaurant industry in light of the continued COVID-19 pandemic. Waypoint Public plans to stay open until a new tenant signs a lease on the space.

Waypoint Public is located at 3794 30th Street in San Diego's North Park. For more information, visit waypointpublic.com.
