Da Nang Corner To Bring Regional Vietnamese Specialties To San Diego

August 25, 2020

Coming this fall to San Diego's Convoy District is Da Nang Corner, an authentic Southeast Asian restaurant specializing in regional Vietnamese cuisine.

Da Nang Corner is a family owned restaurant founded by Quynh Nguyen, who will manage the eatery while her father will oversee the kitchen as head chef. The family is from the coastal city of Da Nang in central Vietnam, which is known for its unique and delicious food.

"I grew up with authentic and delicious dishes cooked by my father," explained Da Nang Corner owner Quynh Nguyen. "With more than 20 years of experience in Vietnamese cuisine, his dedication and passion for cooking undoubtedly made me fall in love with the food industry early on. While studying at University, I was working as a server at a local restaurant to gain more experience. My career was as an accountant and just like many people in their 20s, I dreamt about building my own business. Da Nang city is my hometown – my soul. The city is blessed with not only beautiful beaches and stunning scenery, but also its unique cuisine. Da Nang people, like me, are fiercely proud of our cuisine."

Da Nang Corner will specialize in signature dishes from Da Nang city, including 14-hour-simmered pho noodle soup, traditional banh mi sandwiches, Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef noodle soup) and Mi Quang (frog & chicken turmeric yellow noodle soup served with fresh herbs and bean sprouts). The eatery will also offer specialty drinks like Vietnamese coconut coffee. Da Nang Corner's design will be inspired by Hoi An, the only town in Vietnam that still has a lot of butter-yellow painted houses with red roofs and wooden shutters, which is unique architecture of Vietnam in the 18th & 19th centuries. The restaurant will also have an outdoor patio.

Da Nang Corner is expected to open at some point this September at 4428 Convoy Street, Suite 120, in San Diego's Kearny Mesa neighborhood. For more information, follow the restaurant on Facebook.
