San Diego's Consortium Holdings hospitality group (Born & Raised, Craft & Commerce, Morning Glory) will open its Fortunate Son modern Chinese restaurant today at the space previously occupied by the original Soda & Swine in North Park.
Soda & Swine North Park has recently received an interior remodel by CH's new design specialist Taylor League. The space now has Chinese-inspired decor like a dragon sculpture wrapped around a freestanding fireplace and paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling. The menu from Chef Tony Guan offers twists on classic Chinese-American favorites, like shrimp & pork shumai, beef & shishito peppers, Kung Pao chicken, farmers market Chop Suey, General Tso’s cauliflower, walnut shrimp, and more.

This year, the group has numerous additional concepts in the works, including rooftop sky bar & restaurant The Reading Club atop Intercontinental Hotel and a refresh of East Village's Neighborhood. There is also rumored to be a second iteration of Ironside Fish & Oyster in the works for North Park, although CH representatives have indicated a different concept is planned for the space. Consortium Holdings co-founder Arsalun Tafazoli has also purchased the shopping plaza at 3401 Adams Avenue in Normal Heights, which sits across the street from Blind Lady AleHouse and approximately a half mile from CH's Polite Provisions. There is no word yet on what is planned for that space.
Fortunate Son will open today at 4pm at 2943 Adams Avenue in San Diego's North Park neighborhood. For more information, visit fortunatesonchinese.com and check out the launch menu below.
