Prager Brothers Artisan Breads To Open Bakery In San Diego's Hillcrest Community

October 5, 2020

Heading into the space that last housed an Everbowl location in the heart of San Diego's Hillcrest community is a new retail bakery from Carlsbad-based Prager Brothers Artisan Breads.

In 2012, Carlsbad-born brothers Louie and Clinton Prager began selling bread baked in a woodfire oven they built together in their parents' backyard at area farmers markets. The following year, the duo opened their first brick-and-mortar location, an organic craft bakery and production facility within an industrial park in San Diego's North County area of Carlsbad. This past spring, Prager Brothers launched a 1,300 square-foot retail bakery and eatery on South Coast Highway in Encinitas.

Like the Encinitas location, the Hillcrest branch will have a traditional bakery setup with a variety of house made breads baked with fresh-milled, whole grain organic flour and a glass case filled with pastries, galettes, scones, cakes, cookies and other baked goods. The eatery will also sell breakfast items and sandwiches.

Prager Brothers Artisan Breads aims to open as early as this November at 1252 University Avenue in San Diego's Hillcrest neighborhood. For more information, visit pragerbrothers.com
