Miss B's Coconut Club To Open Spinoff Concept Coco Maya At Former PrepKitchen Space In Little Italy

January 27, 2021

San Diego's 5-year-old Miss B's Coconut Club will soon open a spinoff concept inspired by Mexico's Caribbean coastline dubbed Coco Maya by Miss B's in Little Italy, taking over the space that last housed PrepKitchen.

Local restaurateur Peter Cich, who also has ownership interests in The Duck Dive, PB Shore Club, and PB Fish Shop, among others, and is the founder of Grind & Prosper Hospitality, opened the original Miss B’s Coconut Club in early 2016 on the corner of Santa Clara Court and Mission Boulevard in Mission Beach. The island-inspired bar & restaurant is known for its tiki-cocktails and Caribbean-fusion menu with popular dishes like its El Cubano roast pork sandwich, Jerk rubbed chicken wings, and Lechon asado fries.

A sister concept named Coco Maya by Miss B's will open as early as this spring at 1660 India Street in the unit that last housed PrepKitchen, which suddenly shuttered all 4 San Diego branches early last March after 8 years in business. Expect a similar tiki and island vibe like the original, with an eclectic food menu inspired by Mexico's Yucatan side of the Carribean coast, including weekend brunch. There will also be a full bar centered around rum cocktails, as well as craft beers on draft and a curated wine list.
