Ohio-based Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, which has more than 50 locations around the United States, will soon open two branches in San Diego, including one in the heart of North Park.
Founded by Jeni Britton Bauer in Columbus, OH, in 2002, Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams uses essential oils to help build bold and unique flavors. Jeni's has more than 50 locations in twelve states and the District of Columbia and currently distributes to over 3,000 groceries and markets around the country, as well as shipping nationwide.
Locations of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams will first open in San Diego's North Park community, taking over the space that last housed Hunt & Gather vintage clothing store at 2871 Unversity Avenue. A second will also open within The Beacon La Costa retail plaza in Carlsbad. Expect the ice cream shops to serve a large variety of flavors including pineapple upside down cake, brown butter almond brittle, cold brew with coconut cream and many more. Based on the success of the first outposts, more locations may open around San Diego in the near future.
