Las Vegas-based Clique Hospitality (Lionfish at The Pendry, Serēa at Hotel Del Coronado) is bringing its Tekka Bar Handrolls & Sake sushi restaurant concept to San Diego.
Clique Hospitality was founded in 2001 by Andy Masi, the former Light Group founder and CEO, along with his partners Brian Massie and Shane Monaco. The hospitality firm specializes in "upscale, comfortable and trendsetting dining spots. Locally, it developed Lionfish, Oxford Social Club, and The Pool House for downtown's Pendry San Diego hotel, Serēa Coastal Cuisine at Hotel Del Coronado, three concepts at San Diego's Sycuan Casino, and oversees several venues in Las Vegas. Clique also has plans to build another luxury hotel in San Diego's Gaslamp in the spot where Dick's Last Resort and Gaslamp Strip Club once sat.
Clique Hospitality has taken over the nearly 4,000 square-foot space that last housed EVE Vegan Eats in the heart of San Diego's North County community of Encinitas for the third location of Tekka Bar Handrolls & Sake, which has outposts at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas and at the Delray Beach Market in Florida. Tekka Bar also had a location in Portland that shuttered abruptly in 2019 only months after it opened.
Tekka Bar: Handroll & Sake is inspired by the ancient gambling destination in Japan dating back more than 100 years ago, with "Tekka Ba" translating to "old gambling place." When it opens next year, Tekka Bar will offer a menu of handrolls prepared counter-side and made to order, filled with fresh seafood like blue crab, yellowtail, salmon and scallops. From the bar, expect an extensive sake list with options served in single-serving sake cups, as well as a mix of local and Japanese beer, and nitro matcha on tap.
Tekka Bar is expected to open mid-2022 at 575 South Coast Highway 101 in Encinitas. For more information, visit cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/restaurants/tekka-bar and check out the menu below.
