Many More Mochinut Mochi Donut Locations Coming To San Diego

September 27, 2021

Following the successful opening of its first San Diego location earlier this year, mochi donut chain Mochinut has plans to open several more branches around America's Finest City.

Mochinut is an artisan bakery chain founded by Jaewook Ha in Cerritos, California in 2020 that offers a menu of ever-changing flavors of mochi donuts, a Hawaiian creation of bubble-shaped rings made with rice flour that have a chewy texture similar to that of Japanese mochi ice cream. The Californian-based franchise currently has nearly 40 locations mostly around the Golden State, with plans to expand into New York City, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Florida, Texas, South Korea and Thailand in the near future.

In addition to the flagship San Diego branch at 4609 Convoy Street in Kearny Mesa, Mochinut locations are also in the process of opening within Main Street Plaza in El Cajon, Mira Mesa Boulevard in Mira Mesa, on Plaza Boulevard in National City, and within Renaisance Towne Center plaza in La Jolla. Franchisees are also looking to bring stores to Encinitas, Chula Vista, and Del Mar, among other neighborhoods. Like other locations, the bakeries will sell more than two dozen weekly-changing flavors of mochi donuts, plus coffee and tea drinks. Coming soon to the menus are Korean-style, rice batter fried hot dogs on a stick.
