The Hideout Will Fuse Hawaiian & Mexican Flavors In San Diego's Pacific Beach

September 16, 2021

The Hideout Bar & Grill will embrace the Pacific Beach culture and infuse Mexican and Hawaiian flavors when it opens next month in San Diego.

From career engineer Mike Houser and longtime bartender Greg Prince II, The Hideout is expected to unveil this October in the former Sandbox Pizza space on the corner of Cass Street and Grand Avenue in Pacific Beach. The unit is currently undergoing a full remodel to introduce colors of cool blue, grays and tans with LED mood lighting throughout the bar to highlight the stainless steel accents. The outdoor patio will be upgraded to add more seating.

"The concept of The Hideout Bar & Grill reflects the chill Pacific Beach costal vibe with authentic Mexican and signature cocktails and small plates that infuse Mexican and Hawaiian flavors and cooking techniques," explained co-owner Greg Prince II. "The Hideout Bar & Grill offers a relaxing atmosphere to meet friends, enjoy a craft cocktail right in the heart of Pacific Beach. Our focus is on completing the work at The Hideout Bar & Grill as quickly as possible so we can join the scene as the newest hangout in Pacific Beach. We are major Dodgers and Raiders fans so expect some fantastic food and drink specials on game days!"

The kitchen at Hideout will be in the hands of Executive Chef Krizpin Oades, a Culinary Institute of America graduate who has cooked in kitchens throughout Hawaii, including at Roy's of Kauai, Eating House 1849, and NOBU in New York City. The menu includes Mexican and Hawaiian fusion tapas, such as smoked Kahlua pork birria tacos, smoked hoison barbecue ribs, and aloha passion fruit tuna poke. From the full bar, expect Baja inspired cocktails like the muddled passionfruit cocktail served in a 'jarrito' with a Chamoy and Tajin rim and fresh lime and mint leaves, as well as a full tap list.

The Hideout Bar & Grill is expected to open mid-to-late October at 1014 Grand Avenue in San Diego's Pacific Beach. For more information, visit thehideoutongrandpb.com and check out the launch menu below.
