Selfie Social To Bring Instagram-Worthy Ambiance & Plant-Based Comfort Food To San Diego's Kearny Mesa

October 19, 2021

Opening soon in San Diego's Kearny Mesa is Selfie Social, a 2,500 square-foot bar & vegan restaurant designed to fuel its customers' Instagram and TikTok feeds.

Selfie Social founder Alvin Barnuevo is a Virginia native and University of San Diego MBA graduate that has opened several bar and restaurant concepts in the Virginia area. With Selfie Social, he hopes to create a space where customers of all ages can come together through the power of photography and create the one-of-a-kind selfie.

"Selfie Social will be San Diego’s first and only Selfie spot," explained owner Alvin Barnuevo. "Experience a world where everything is picture-worthy - the food, drinks, and most importantly, YOU!"

At Selfie Social, there will be several rooms with interior designs based on social media and fashion trends. All the "selfie rooms" come provided with their own dedicated studio ring light that will give customers the opportunity to take nicely illuminated photos with friends and family. The entire space will be filled with photo opportunities, along with little "easter eggs" that only some may notice. Murals at Selfie Social have been painted by local artists Adele Stratton & Camilla Robina. Upon opening, there will be a San Diego mural, angel wings wall, Rick & Morty room, and a door with the popular Squid Game killer doll. Rooms will be transformed with a new theme approximately ever six months.

The menu at Selfie Social will be entirely plant-based. Expect vegan versions of comfort food dishes like mac n' cheese, salads, sandwiches, and paninis. There will also be 30 foot bar for customers to socialize and enjoy unique sake-based drinks, soju cocktails, craft beer, & wine, and traditional and Asian sodas and snack.

Selfie Social is expected to soft open on Saturday, October 23, from 11am to 11pm, at 4411 Mercury Street, Suite 102, in San Diego's Kearny Mesa. A grand opening will take place at some point in November 2021. For more information, visit
