Deano's Pub To Replace The Alibi In San Diego's La Mesa Neighborhood

November 30, 2021

Replacing The Alibi in San Diego's East County city of La Mesa is Deano's Pub, an LGBTQ+ bar and live music destination set to open this December.

Deano's Pub founders Dean and Erika Velasco have been partners for the past 28 years. The pair previously opened Riverwalk Grill in Santee in 2017 but ended up recently selling the concept.

"Our concept was to create a cool neighborhood pub where anyone could come in and feel welcome and enjoy a cocktail or local craft beer," explained co-founder Dean Velasco. "We want to strive to provide and environment where folks from all walks of life could come in and be comfortable to sit at the bar or play a game of pool or watch their favorite local band. We are very active in the LGBTQ+ community and our local community of Santee for many years."

Expected to soft open on December 15, Deano's Pub will be a bar with a menu of creative cocktails, including a great selection of craft Martinis, a house shot list, and Deano’s XXL drinks served in a 32oz pitcher, as well as a selection of local craft beer. The former Alibi space will receive a new façade, an interior refresh and an upgrade to the sound system for live music and bands. Gregory Clyons, who previously managed nearby Hearth House, will be Deano's bar manager. Deano's will host frequent live bands ranging from 80s rock to punk-pop, to alt-rock and country music.

Deano's is anticipated to open mid-December at 5286 Baltimore Drive in La Mesa, CA. For more information, follow Deano's Pub on Facebook
