San Diego yeast manufacturer and craft brewery White Labs Brewing Company will soon add an onsite pizza kitchen to their Miramar tasting room.
UCSD biochemistry grad, avid homebrewer, and now-doctor Chris White founded White Labs as a small yeast manufacturing company in San Diego's Miramar area in 1995. Initially, White sold his yeast only to Ballast Point's Home Brew Mart and to breweries like Pizza Port. The company now has locations in San Diego, Denmark, Asheville NC, and Hong Kong, as well as an online shop that sells around 100 strains of liquid yeast to brewers around the world. White Labs Brewing Company was started in 2012 as a way for the company to showcase the influence yeast and fermentation have on beer, as well as for research and development to gain insight into new and innovative yeast strains.
The San Diego location of White Labs Brewing will soon add a pizza menu to spotlight a different side of yeast fermentation. Similar to the Asheville Kitchen & Tap location, the San Diego branch will offer a selection of Neapolitan-style, wood-fired pizzas made with brewer's yeast, as well as salads, side dishes, sandwiches and shareable plates like garlic mozzarella bread and kimchi fries. Patrons will be able to enjoy the food menu soon at the brewery's new 30-seat patio.
White Labs Brewing Company is expected to open its onsite kitchen this February at 9495 Candida Street in San Diego's Miramar. For more information, visit whitelabsbrewingco.com and check out the draft food menu below.
