After originally launching in Miramar, Boss Bird Kitchen has relocated and is now open in San Diego's East County city of La Mesa.
In March 2020, Scott Chiv partnered up with former Blue Boheme chef Diego Lopez to open the original Boss Bird Kitchen in the Miramar Road space that previously housed Chef DJ Tangalin's short-lived Gaya Gaya. The fast-casual fried chicken eatery closed its Miramar outpost late last year after taking over the 2,250 square-foot building that last housed Fourpenny House in San Diego's La Mesa neighborhood.
Boss Bird Kitchen is now in its soft opening phase in La Mesa. Like the original restaurant, expect a menu centered around fried chicken, including sandwiches, tenders, bone-in cuts, and wings of various spice levels. The eatery also serves side dishes like fries, biscuits, salad, green beans, mac n' cheese, slaw, and more, as well as cookies, pie, soft drinks, cocktails, and plenty of draft beer.
