Los Angeles-Based Sweetgreen Nearly Ready To Unveil First San Diego Location

February 13, 2022

Los Angeles-based fast-casual salad restaurant chain Sweetgreen will unveil its first San Diego location later this month.

The original Sweetgreen restaurant was founded in Washington DC in 2007 by founders Nicolas Jammet, Nathaniel Ru and Jonathan Newman, who all had just graduated from Georgetown University business school a few months earlier. Now headquartered in Culver City, CA,  Sweetgreen has more than 150 locations around the country, offering a seasonally-changing menu with a variety of salads, warm bowls, plates, sides, and shareable plates.

The first San Diego Sweetgreen location will open in a 2,500 square-foot space within the 123,000 square-foot Beacon La Costa shopping center in Carlsbad, formerly La Costa Towne Center. The shopping center, which recently underwent a $10 million renovation, has attracted several multi-million-dollar tenants, including a location of Shake Shack that recently opened, and incoming eateries Ohio-based Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams and the second location of San Diego-based Trust Restaurant Group's The Wise Ox Butcher & Eatery.

Sweetgreen will open on February 22 at 7750 El Camino Real, Suite A, in San Diego's North County community of Carlsbad. For more information, visit sweetgreen.com.
