Mastiff Sausage Team In Process Of Taking Over Craft Kitchen In San Diego's La Mesa

November 3, 2022

The team behind San Diego's Mastiff Sausage Company is taking over Craft Kitchen in La Mesa for the opening of the company's first standalone restaurant.

Escondido natives and longtime friends Jacob Bartlett and Chef Eric Gallerstein founded Mastiff Sausage Company in 2013 as a San Diego food truck and caterer specializing in handmade craft sausages. In 2015, the duo opened Mastiff Kitchen inside Liberty Public Market in Point Loma, which has since closed, and the following year opened a second location inside North Park Beer. They also operate The Pig’s Gig BBQ and Fluster Cluck Hot Chicken, both sited inside Liberty Public Market.

The Mastiff Kitchen team is in the process of taking over Craft Kitchen restaurant in La Mesa, which first opened in April 2015. Expected to debut early next year, the new restaurant, currently dubbed Mastiff Craft Kitchen, will serve an all-day menu of comfort food favorites curated from Mastiff's multiple locations. Expect items ranging from wings and burgers, to sausages, burgers, salads, tacos and fried chicken sandwiches. Mastiff Craft Kitchen will also serve a variety of local craft beer, cider, kombucha and wine.

Mastiff Craft Kitchen is anticipated to open in January 2023 at 4253 Palm Avenue in San Diego's East County city of La Mesa, but Craft Kitchen remains open for the time being. For more information, visit mastiffsausagecompany.com.
