All Things Pickleball Converge At San Diego's Incoming The Hub

December 16, 2022

One of the fastest-growing sports in the U.S., pickleball will be the focus of San Diego's incoming The Hub, a 26-court pickleball facility with onsite restaurant and shop set to grand open in early 2023.

Pickleball is a paddle sport invented in 1965 as a children's backyard game on Bainbridge Island, Washington. In 2021 and 2022, the sport was named the fastest-growing sport in the United States by the Sports and Fitness Industry Association, with over 4.8 million players.

Set to grand open on January 2, 2023, The Hub is a San Diego's largest sporting facility completely devoted to pickleball. At The Hub, there will be 26 dedicated pickleball courts, including two custom stadium courts. The championship court also boasts a sky loft with 360 degree views of the entire facility. The Hub will offer month-to-month and annual membership options, as well as day passes.
Pickleball Pro Michelle Esquivel is The Hub's General Manager and Rob Cassidy, who is also a current Pickleball Professional, is the head teaching professional.

The Hub will host clinics and lessons to members and non members starting in February. There will also be frequent events such as daily open play, challenge court, weekly round robins, leagues, monthly parties, and yearly member tournaments, as well as pro exhibitions and nationally-recognized tournaments. The facility will also have a full restaurant and a fully-equipped pro shop. Leading up to the grand opening of The Hub, the business will offer free open play during a preview week scheduled to take place December 26-31, 2022.

The Hub is located at 9545 Campo Drive in San Diego's East County community of Spring Valley. For more information, visit thehubpickleball.com.
