Santa Barbara's 70-Year-Old McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams To Open First San Diego Location

January 25, 2023

Santa Barbara's 70 year-old scoop shop chain McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams is opening its first San Diego location.

McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams was founded by husband and wife Gordon and Ernesteen McConnell in Santa Barbara, CA, in 1949. The company was started with the mission of avoiding artificial and industrialized ingredients, choosing to instead source from Central Coast farms and purveyors, including using locally sourced grass-grazed milk, fruit, nuts and produce. McConnell’s currently operates seven locations around California.

The first San Diego branch of McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams will install in the space that currently houses a Colds Stone Creamery within The Forum Carlsbad plaza. Like other branches, expect a menu of small batch ice cream in flavors like Raspberry Cheesecake & Chocolate Crust, Brazilian Coffee, S'Mores, Eureka Lemon & Marionberries, Honey & Cornbread Cookie, and many more.

McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams is expected to unveil by this summer at 1935 Calle Barcelona, Suite 175, in San Diego's North County community of Carlsbad. For more information, visit mcconnells.com.
