Known for having some of the best chilaquiles in town, Cocina 35 has launched a take-out only location in San Diego's Barrio Logan, and their newest endeavor also includes eight sister-concepts that serve burritos, tortas, sandwiches, other breakfast staples and much more.
Cocina 35 was founded in Otay Mesa in 2012 by owner Paulina Chaidez, who brought her family recipes of made-from-scratch Mexican breakfast specialties served cafeteria-style to San Diego's South County. In 2015, the second Cocina 35 opened in the Cortez Hill neighborhood of San Diego's downtown. A third Cocina 35 is anticipated to open this March in the 4,700 square-foot space that last housed a branch of Consortium Holdings' now-defunct Soda & Swine concept, which shuttered at the start of the pandemic and never reopened.
A take-out exclusive branch of Cocina 35 unveiled earlier this week at the new Mexican Food Hub virtual restaurant collective in Barrio Logan. Like other outposts of Cocina 35, the new spot serves a menu of "Comida Corrida" build your own brunch plates with a variety of chilaquiles options and toppings, as well as egg scrambles, Cajeta toasts, pancakes, tortas, burritos, tacos, and more. With the new location, Cocina 35 ownership have also opened a variety of new concepts, including Burritos La Linea, which servies traditional Mexican burritos "Hilera-style", prepared with a fresh flour tortilla folded around slow cooked, stewed meats and eggs.
In addition to Burritos La Linea, other virtual eateries from Cocina 35 that are housed in the Mexican Food Hub include Tortas Lola, Sandwichtown, Antojitos Del Norte, Mi Dulce Desayuno, Good Morning Mexico, Omelette Bar, and Chilaquiles Store. All in all, the new virtual restaurant collective offers an extensive array of Mexican dishes for any meal of the day.
