Late Night Sweet Shop Chain Insomnia Cookies Opening New Location In San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter

March 28, 2023

Philadelphia-based sweet shop chain Insomnia Cookies, which has more than 200 locations around the United States, will open an outpost in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter later this year.

Founded in a college dorm room in 2003 at the University of Pennsylvania by then student Seth Berkowitz, Insomnia Cookies has been feeding fans ever since and now has over 215 stores with many more in development. In late 2018, the company opened its second California location in the heart of San Diego's Pacific Beach neighborhood.

Insomnia Cookies has recently signed a lease to take over the nearly 3,000 square-foot space that last housed a location of Ike's Love & Sandwiches. Like other branches, expect a menu available until 3am with cookie flavors like Chocolate Chunk, Snickerdoodle, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup and the S’mores Deluxe, with the requisite pint of cold milk available to be added to any order. Insomnia Cookies also serves and delivers cookie cakes and brownies with toppings such as sprinkles and cookie dough. There will also be a full ice cream menu with customizable options such as the cookie a la mode and cookiewich, an ice cream sandwiched between any two cookies of your choice.

Insomnia Cookies is expected to open as early as this summer at 542 Fifth Avenue in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter. For more information, visit insomniacookies.com.
