Fiddler's Green Ends Near Three Decade Run In San Diego's Point Loma

July 9, 2023

After nearly three decades in business, Fiddler's Green restaurant has ended its run in San Diego's Point Loma.

Founded along the entrance of Shelter Island in San Diego's Point Loma neighborhood in 1994 by yacht broker and avid sailor Steve Rock, Fiddler's Green was a nautical-themed restaurant with more than 300 yacht and boat models adorning the walls and a value-oriented menu of American dishes centered around of steak and seafood. Around 2020, former construction worker and longtime customer Ron Thomas had a chance discussion at Fiddler's Green that resulted in him purchasing the restaurant from Steve and Debi Rock.

This past May 24, Fiddler's Green was ordered to shut town by the County of San Diego Department of Environmental Health Food and Housing Division following multiple violations, including major vermin infestation. The department attempted to reinspect the restaurant on June 21 but was unable to gain access. The signage has since been pulled from the building's exterior, and we've received word the restaurant has permanently closed. There has been no official public announcement by Fiddler's Green ownership.

Fiddler's Green was sited at 2760 Shelter Island Drive in San Diego's Point Loma. For more information, visit fiddlersgreensd.com.
