Bay Area-Based Bag O' Crab To Bring Robot Servers & Cajun Seafood To San Diego

November 14, 2023

Bay Area-based Bag O' Crab restaurant chain will bring robot servers and Cajun-style seafood to Southern California with the opening of its first San Diego location.

Founded in Fremont, CA, in 2010, Bag O' Crab is Cajun/Asian seafood restaurant chain that now has 16 locations dotted around California, the Pacific Northwest and Texas. Like other seafood boil concepts, the restaurant specializes in a menu of customizable bags of steam-boiled seafood where customers pick their ingredient choices, choose sauces, and then throw on a plastic bib and gloves and use a variety of tools to enjoy the messy feast.

Bag O' Crab will soon open a new restaurant in the space that last housed Pho Lena & Grill in Vineyard Square shopping plaza in San Diego's North County city of Escondido. Like other branches, expect a menu of customizable seafood boils featuring ingredients like lobster, crab (Dungeness, King, Snow), crawfish, shrimp, mussels and clams steamed up with a selection of Cajun and Asian seasonings. There will also be a menu of appetizers, chicken wings, fried baskets, sides, salads, and grilled items, as well as beer and wine. Franchisees Jin Bin Cai and Jimmy Feng will operate the first San Diego location. It is likely there will be at least one robot server, like is used at some other Bag O' Crab locations.

Bag O' Crab is anticipated to open in 2024 at 1535 East Valley Parkway, Suite 102, in San Diego's North County city of Escondido. For more information, visit bagocrabusa.com.
